Podiatry. The role.
Podiatrists are doctors who treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and lower limbs, including injuries, pain, and mobility issues.
What do Podiatrists manage?
Injuries: Sprains, fractures, and soft tissue damage.
Chronic Conditions: Arthritis, diabetes, and circulatory problems.
Biomechanics: Addressing issues like flat feet, high arches, and gait abnormalities.
Foot Deformities: Treating bunions, hammertoes, and structural issues.
Surgical Interventions: Correcting foot and ankle deformities or injuries.
Sports Podiatry: Helping athletes recover and improve performance.
Nail and Skin Care: Treating infections, ingrown toenails, and calluses.
Podiatrists may recommend exercises, custom orthoses, or medications to manage conditions and help patients of all ages move comfortably. They also provide education on foot care and prevention for long-term foot health.

Bring 2-3 pairs of worn footwear (work, sport, casual), loose clothing (preferably shorts or pants that can be rolled up), and any relevant medical records or imaging (e.g., x-ray, MRI).
Remove all toenail polish or shellac polish. Nail polish can mask signs of infection, fungus, or other nail conditions, so removing it ensures a thorough and accurate examination.
-
